郑人买履（详读本）

从前cóng qián，郑zhèng国有guó yǒu一yī个人gè rén，想xiǎng买mǎi一yī双shuāng新xīn鞋xié。

Long ago, a man of Zheng wanted to buy a new pair of shoes.

出门chū mén以前yǐ qián，他tā先xiān在家zài jiā里lǐ拿ná了liǎo一yī根gēn绳子shéng zi，量liáng好hào自己zì jǐ的de脚jiǎo有yǒu多duō长zhǎng，然后rán hòu把bǎ量liáng好hào的de尺寸chǐ cun放fàng在座zài zuò位wèi上shàng。

Before leaving he measured his foot with a piece of string at home, then laid the measurement on his seat.

他tā来到lái dào集jí市shì，找到zhǎo dào卖mài鞋xié的de摊子tān zi，挑tiǎo好了hǎo le一yī双shuāng鞋xié。正zhèng要yào掏钱tāo qián的de时候shí hou，他tā一yī摸mō口袋kǒu dài，忽然hū rán叫jiào了liǎo起来qǐ lai：糟糕zāo gāo，我wǒ忘wàng了liǎo带dài尺寸chǐ cun！

At the market he found the shoe stall and picked a pair. About to pay, he felt his pocket and cried: oh no, I forgot the measurement!

卖mài鞋xié的de人rén说shuō：没关系méi guān xi，你nǐ用yòng脚jiǎo试shì一yī试shì不bù就jìu行háng了liǎo？

The shoemaker said: no matter, just try it on your foot.

那nà个人gè rén却què摇yáo摇头yáo tóu说shuō：不行bù xíng，我wǒ只zhī相信xiāng xìn量liáng好hào的de尺寸chǐ cun，不bù相信xiāng xìn自己zì jǐ的de脚jiǎo。说shuō完wán，他tā转身zhuǎn shēn就jìu往wǎng家jiā跑pǎo。

The man shook his head: no, I trust the measurement, not my own foot. And he ran home.

等děng他tā拿ná了liǎo尺寸chǐ cun，气qì喘chuǎn吁xū吁xū地dì跑pǎo回huí集jí市shì的de时候shí hou，天tiān已经yǐ jīng快kuài黑hēi了liǎo，卖mài鞋xié的de人rén早就zǎo jìu收shōu摊tān回家huí jiā了liǎo。

By the time he rushed back to the market with the string, it was nearly dark and the shoemaker had gone home.

旁边páng biān的de人rén听说tīng shuō这zhè件jiàn事shì，都dōu笑xiào他tā：你nǐ给gěi自己zì jǐ买mǎi鞋xié，为什么wèi shén me不用bù yòng自己zì jǐ的de脚jiǎo试shì呢ne？

People who heard this laughed at him: buying shoes for yourself, why not use your own foot?

那nà个人gè rén还huán嘴zuǐ硬yìng：我wǒ宁可nìng kě相信xiāng xìn尺寸chǐ cun，也yě不bù相信xiāng xìn自己zì jǐ的de脚jiǎo。

He still insisted: I would rather trust a measurement than my own foot.

他tā家里jiā lǐ的de桌zhuō上shàng、墙qiáng上shàng，到处dào chù都dōu是shì量liáng好hào的de尺寸chǐ cun：脚jiǎo的de、腰yāo的de、袖xiù子zi的de，一yī根gēn一yī根gēn编biān着zhuó号hào。

His table and walls were covered with measurements, feet, waist, sleeves, each string numbered.

邻居lín jū劝quàn他tā：买mǎi鞋xié这zhè种zhòng事shì，脚jiǎo试shì最zuì快kuài。他tā说shuō：脚jiǎo会huì出汗chū hàn，会huì肿zhǒng，今天jīn tiān和hé昨天zuó tiān都dōu不bù一样yī yàng，尺寸chǐ cun才cái不bù会huì骗人piàn rén。

Neighbors urged him: trying shoes on the foot is fastest. He said: feet sweat and swell, different day to day; measurements never lie.

鞋xié没méi买mǎi成chéng，他tā倒dào不bù后悔hòu huǐ。回家huí jiā以后yǐ hòu，他tā把bǎ那nà根gēn尺寸chǐ cun擦cā了liǎo又yòu擦cā，放fàng回huí了liǎo原来yuán lái的de地方dì fāng。

The shoes unbought, he had no regrets. Home again, he wiped the measurement clean and put it back in its place.

这zhè个gè故事gù shi告诉gào su我们wǒ men：做事zuò shì情qíng不bù能néng只zhī认rèn死sǐ规矩guī ju，不bù根据gēn jù实际shí jì情况qíng kuàng来lái办bàn，不然bù rán就jìu会huì闹nào笑话xiào hua。

The story teaches: rigid rules without regard for reality only make a fool of you.
