掩耳盗铃（详读本）

从前cóng qián有yǒu一yī个人gè rén，看见kàn jiàn别人bié ren家jiā门mén前qián挂guà着zhuó一yī口kǒu大dà钟zhōng。那nà口kǒu钟zhōng又yòu大dà又yòu漂亮piào liang，他tā心里xīn li很hěn想xiǎng把bǎ它tā偷tōu走zǒu。

A man once saw a large bell hanging before someone's gate. It was big and beautiful, and he wanted very much to steal it.

可是kě shì钟zhōng太tài大dà了liǎo，他tā怎么zěn me也yě搬bān不bù动dòng。想xiǎng了liǎo半天bàn tiān，他tā终于zhōng yú想xiǎng出chū一yī个gè办法bàn fǎ：把bǎ钟zhōng敲qiāo碎suì，一yī块kuài一yī块kuài地dì拿ná回家huí jiā。

But the bell was too heavy to carry. After long thought he found a plan: break it apart and carry it home piece by piece.

夜里yè li，他tā拿ná着zhuó锤子chuí zi来到lái dào钟zhōng前qián。锤子chuí zi一yī敲qiāo，钟zhōng就jìu发出fā chū了liǎo响亮xiǎng liàng的de声音shēng yīn，把bǎ他tā吓xià了liǎo一yī跳tiào。

At night he came with a hammer. At the first strike the bell rang out loudly, frightening him.

他tā想xiǎng：这么zhè me大dà的de声音shēng yīn，别人bié ren听见tīng jiàn了liǎo一定yī dìng会huì来lái捉zhuō我wǒ。怎么办zěn me bàn呢ne？

Such a loud sound, he thought, someone will hear and catch me. What to do?

忽然hū rán，他tā想xiǎng出chū了liǎo一yī个gè好hào主意zhǔ yi：我wǒ把bǎ自己zì jǐ的de耳朵ěr duo捂wǔ住zhù，不bù就jìu听tīng不见bù jiàn了liǎo吗ma？

Suddenly he had an idea: if I cover my own ears, I won't hear it.

于是yú shì，他tā用yòng两liǎng块kuài布bù把bǎ耳朵ěr duo塞sāi得děi紧紧jǐn jǐn的de，然后rán hòu放心fàng xīn大胆dà dǎn地dì敲qiāo起qǐ钟zhōng来lái。

So he stuffed his ears tight with cloth and hammered away at the bell without a worry.

钟zhōng声shēng传zhuàn得děi很hěn远yuǎn很hěn远yuǎn。他tā听tīng不见bù jiàn，可是kě shì别人bié ren都dōu听见tīng jiàn了liǎo。人们rén men跑pǎo出来chū lái，当场dāng chǎng把bǎ他tā抓住zhuā zhù了liǎo。

The bell's sound carried far. He could not hear it, but everyone else did. People ran out and caught him on the spot.

后来hòu lái人们rén men笑话xiào hua他tā：你nǐ捂wǔ住zhù了liǎo自己zì jǐ的de耳朵ěr duo，又yòu不bù是shì捂wǔ住zhù了liǎo别人bié ren的de耳朵ěr duo，钟zhōng声shēng怎么zěn me会huì消失xiāo shī呢ne？

People later laughed at him: you covered your own ears, not others'; how would that silence the bell?

这zhè个gè世界shì jiè上shàng的de很hěn多duō事情shì qing就是jìu shì这样zhè yàng：你nǐ假装jiǎ zhuāng看kān不见bù jiàn，它tā并bìng不bù会huì消失xiāo shī；你nǐ不bù敢gǎn面对miàn duì，它tā只zhī会huì越来越yuè lái yuè大dà。

Many things in the world are like this: pretending not to see them does not make them vanish; refusing to face them only lets them grow.

掩yǎn耳ěr盗dào铃líng告诉gào su我们wǒ men：骗piàn别人bié ren的de人rén，常常cháng cháng先xiān骗piàn了liǎo自己zì jǐ。捂wǔ住zhù自己zì jǐ的de耳朵ěr duo，钟zhōng声shēng并bìng不bù会huì消失xiāo shī。

Covering your ears to steal a bell teaches: those who deceive others often deceive themselves first. Stopping your own ears does not silence the bell.
