铁杵磨针（详读本）

唐táng朝cháo的de大dà诗人shī rén李lǐ白bái，小时候xiǎo shí hou非常fēi cháng贪tān玩wán，不bù爱ài读书dú shū，常常cháng cháng从cóng学堂xué táng里lǐ逃táo出去chū qù玩wán。

The great Tang poet Li Bai was, as a boy, very fond of play and often skipped school to run off outside.

有yǒu一yī天tiān，他tā又yòu偷偷tōu tōu溜līu出chū学堂xué táng，走zǒu到dào一yī条tiáo小xiǎo河hé边biān。河hé边biān有yǒu一yī位wèi白bái发fā老婆lǎo pó婆pó，正zhèng低dī着zhuó头tóu，在zài一yī块kuài石头shí tou上shàng磨mó一yī根gēn铁tiě棒bàng。

One day he slipped out again and came to a stream, where a white-haired old woman was grinding an iron bar on a stone.

李lǐ白bái觉得jué de很hěn奇怪qí guài，就jìu走过zǒu guò去qù问wèn：老婆lǎo pó婆pó，您nín在zài磨mó什么shén me呀ya？

Puzzled, Li Bai went over and asked: granny, what are you grinding?

老婆lǎo pó婆pó头tóu也yě不bù抬tái，一边yī biān磨mó一边yī biān说shuō：我wǒ在zài磨mó一yī根gēn绣xìu花huā针zhēn。

Without looking up she kept grinding and said: I am grinding it into a sewing needle.

李lǐ白bái听tīng了liǎo，差chà点diǎn笑xiào出来chū lái：这么zhè me粗cū的de铁tiě棒bàng，要yào磨mó成chéng细xì细xì的de针zhēn，那nà得děi磨mó到dào什么shén me时候shí hou啊ā！

Li Bai nearly laughed: such a thick iron bar into a thin needle, how long would that take!

老婆lǎo pó婆pó说shuō：只要zhǐ yào天天tiān tiān磨mó，铁tiě杵chǔ总zǒng能néng磨mó成chéng针zhēn。下xià的de功夫gōng fu深shēn了liǎo，就jìu没有méi yǒu做zuò不成bù chéng的de事shì。

The old woman said: grind every day and the bar will become a needle. Work deep enough and nothing is impossible.

李lǐ白bái听tīng了liǎo，心里xīn li很hěn惭愧cán kuì。他tā想xiǎng：老婆lǎo pó婆pó能néng把bǎ铁tiě棒bàng磨mó成chéng针zhēn，我wǒ读书dú shū这zhè点diǎn苦kǔ，又yòu算suàn得了dé le什么shén me呢ne？

Li Bai felt ashamed. If an old woman can grind iron into a needle, he thought, what is a little hardship in study?

他tā马上mǎ shàng回到huí dào学堂xué táng，从此cóng cǐ认真rèn zhēn读书dú shū，再也zài yě不bù逃táo学xué了liǎo。

He went straight back to school and studied hard, never skipping class again.

李lǐ白bái蹲dūn在zài旁边páng biān看kān了liǎo一会儿yī huì r，问wèn：老婆lǎo pó婆pó，这zhè根gēn铁tiě棒bàng这么zhè me粗cū，针zhēn那么nà me细xì，能néng磨mó成chéng吗ma？

Li Bai squatted watching a while, then asked: granny, the bar is so thick and a needle so thin, can it really be ground down?

老婆lǎo pó婆pó还是hái shi不bù抬头tái tóu：我wǒ磨mó一yī天tiān，它tā就jìu细xì一yī点diǎn；磨mó一yī年nián，它tā就jìu细xì一yī截jié。铁tiě棒bàng是shì死sǐ的de，人rén是shì活huó的de。

Still without looking up she said: one day of grinding and it is thinner; one year and it is shorter. The bar is dead; the person is alive.

那nà天tiān以后yǐ hòu，村cūn里lǐ人rén常常cháng cháng看见kàn jiàn李lǐ白bái在zài河hé边biān读书dú shū。有人yǒu rén笑话xiào hua他tā装zhuāng样子yàng zi，他tā不理bù lǐ，只是zhǐ shì把手bǎ shou里lǐ的de书shū翻fān过guo一yī页yè。

After that day the villagers often saw Li Bai reading by the river. Some mocked his pose; he ignored them and turned another page.

后来hòu lái，李lǐ白bái成chéng了liǎo中国zhōng guó历史lì shǐ上shàng最zuì伟大wěi dà的de诗人shī rén之一zhī yī。这zhè个gè故事gù shi说shuō：只要zhǐ yào有yǒu恒héng心xīn，再zài难nán的de事shì也yě能néng做zuò成chéng。

Li Bai became one of China's greatest poets. The story says: with perseverance, the hardest thing can be done.
